Urban Decay Alice Through The Looking Glass Eyeshadow Palette & Makeup Look

Hi everyone!

I have recently been spoiled by Urban Decay as I was kindly sent several of their products to review, swatch and create makeup looks with. The first set of products being the Alice Through The Looking Glass collection - which first of all, let me say, the packaging looks so creative and stunning!

Disney had asked Urban Decay to collaborate with them upon the release of Alice Through The Looking Glass (which was released towards the end of May this year) - and they came out with a stunning, pop-up style eyeshadow palette filled with super beautiful colours. Not only that, but there are also new lipsticks along with this collection!

Look at this packaging! This super creative pop-up butterfly packing is honestly so cool, and I love the vibrant colours.

The eyeshadow palette consists of 20 beautiful, super pigmented eyeshadows that are a mix of matte and shimmer - with some having more glittery specks in them than others. The variety of shades in this palette mean you can create your everyday, casual makeup that is suitable for work; or a smouldering smoked out smokey eye.

The really cool thing about this palette is that even column of this palette is an individual makeup look based on characters in the movie.
Column 1 - Alice: Looking Glass, Reflection, Dormouse, Metamorphosis
Column 2 - Mad Hatter: Hatter, Gone Mad, Paradox, Cake
Column 3 - Mirana: Lily, Duchess, Kingdom, Chessboard
Column 4 - Iracebeth: Heads Will Roll, Bandersnatch, Salazen Grum, Royal Flush
Column 5 - Time: Time, Dream On, Chronosphere, Mirror.

So you can create different makeup looks based on these columns, or obviously you can switch up the shades and create whichever look you want!

I decided to tackle the darkest look of this palette which is the Time column; filled with four smokey shadows. Time is a matte deep navy, Dream On is a glittery light blue grey shade, Chronosphere is a shimmery cool toned brown bronze shade, and finally, Mirror is a gun metal grey shade.

For this look, I used Mirror as the base colour (or transition shade) - as it's a soft grey, I thought it'd be easier to lay this down first before using more of the bold colours.
I then went in with Time on the inner and outer corner to create a 'spotlight eye' look. Despite Time being quite a bold dark shade, it was super easy to blend it into Mirror.
Taking Dream On on a flat brush, I packed this onto the inner area of my eye to really make this look 'pop'.
Finally, I brushed Chromosphere along my lower lash line for a bit of extra smokiness and definition to my eye.

I paired this look with the Time lipstick which I will be moving on to now...

Moving on to the lipsticks from this range, there is a lipstick to compliment each look.

Alice - A sheer nude peachy shade with a pink shift
Mad Hatter - A bold shimmery purple shade
Mirana - A shimmery deep berry shade
Iracebeth - A classic matte red shade
Time - A matte navy shade with silver shimmer

As you can see, these lipstick shades are so pigmented and nice to others I have seen! The Alice shade is more of a sheer nude shade so it doesn't show up as well as the others - but honestly it has a lovely pink hue to it that is so stunning.
I love my bold and unique lipstick colours so this collaboration was definitely up my street!

I do like to experiment with different looks and create art - and one thing I've been doing a lot recently is eye makeup looks on my arm. So on the left, I have the Mad Hatter column of eyeshadows - On the right, I have the Mirana column of eyeshadows.

I really do love this palette and I'm so thankful for the team at Urban Decay for kindly sending me the collection to review and create looks with!

I hope you all enjoyed reading my review of the Urban Decay Alice Through The Looking Glass Palette :) Thanks for stopping by!

Trying L.A Girl Products For The First Time

Hi everyone!

A couple months ago, I was contacted by JustMyLook.co.uk for a collaboration as they are a fairly recent company that stock leading beauty brands at affordable prices.
One brand in particular that caught my eye was L.A Girl

If you're a beauty lover, you will know that L.A Girl is an American beauty brand and their products can be a little hard to buy if you're in the UK area (like myself) - so I was super happy to see that Just My Look stocked their brand.
For this collaboration they kindly sent me a few of their products to try out and review; including two HD concealers, two lipsticks, a blush/contour palette, a bronzing stick and an eyeshadow palette.

The first product I was sent was the NUDES Eyeshadow Palette which includes 12 beautiful eyeshadow shades and a duo eyeshadow brush.
The shades in this palette are a nice mix of matte and shimmer, with a beautiful dusky rose theme - I thought it reminded me of the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette and this could be a dupe!
After trying out this palette and swatching the shadows, I was amazed to see how pigmented they are.  Sometimes shimmery shades can be hard to apply as not much pigment is picked up from the brush or the shade itself doesn't offer that much colour, but these eyeshadows are great quality.

The next palette I was sent was the GLOW palette, which offers two blushers, a contour shade and a highlight shade.
First of all, I really love the size of the pans as there is a lot of product to last me many many uses. And also the engraving on the the contour/blusher/highlight is super cute and a nice finish!

All of these shades are matte and have a matte finish - which may be a good or bad thing depending on the style of makeup you like to achieve.
I personally like a shimmery sort of highlight rather than a matte highlight as I like my highlighter to really 'pop' on my cheekbones.
As for the blush/contour shades, I really like them as I find matte colours easier to work with - if I want a sort of dewy makeup finish, I spritz my MAC Fix + all over my face to get rid of any powdery finish.

Again, I am very impressed at how pigmented these shades are!

Lipsticks are products that I can never have too many of, especially matte lipsticks.
I was sent two lipsticks from the Matte Flat Velvet range in the shades 'Carried Away' and 'Gossip'.

Gossip - Cherry Red
Carried Away - Ice-tinged Pink

You can see how pigmented these lipsticks are and these swatches were just one simple stroke.
As these lipsticks are matte - they're not the typical matte lipstick which can look dry on your lips or emphasise on any dry patches. But whilst being matte, they have a sort of creamy moisturising quality so you're able to wear the lipsticks with comfort.

As you can see 'Carried Away' was a little too light for my skin tone and to be quite honest, it's not my type of shade that I'd wear. I have yet to find a lip combination that I can make work with this lipstick colour as I would love to wear it without looking ashy in complexion
Gossip is a beautiful ruby red shade and gives a classic feel to any makeup look.

I was so intrigued to see what this product is like as I love me some good bronzer!
This is the Velvet Bronzer Contour Stick in 'Goddess', and you simply apply it to areas on your face that you would like to bronze up and give some definition.

I really love the idea of this stick as it's just so simple and easy to use - you can apply it on the go and you don't really need any fancy brushes as you can use your finger tips to blend out the colour.

There is a slight shimmer in the product so you may have to apply a powder bronzer/contour on top if you want a sort of matte finish.
Despite this being a contour stick, I felt like it looked more like a glowy bronzer and wasn't quite dark enough to contour my face - in the swatch below you can see it against my skin tone.
Although saying that, I have used this underneath a shimmery bronzer and I absolutely love it!
This is excellent as a cream base for a powder bronzer/ powder contour product and I'd suggest trying it like that if you can't use it on its own.

Before this collaboration, I had never tried any L.A Girl products before but I'd heard so many amazing things about the Pro.Conceal HD Concealers. I've seen them in Instagram videos, YouTube videos and blog posts - so many people rave about the amazing quality of these concealers and I have to agree with them!
These concealers are fabulous at covering up dark under eye circles, pigmentation and scars. They provide amazing coverage whilst still being easy to work with and blending out - just so there are no harsh lines.

I received the shades 'Nude' and 'Natural' - with one being slightly more yellow and neutral in tone, and the other with a slight pinkish tone.

I really love the applicator on this as it's a pen style concealer. You just squeeze on the tube when you want more concealer and apply it to the back of your hand or directly onto the area you want to conceal.
I find it easier to use my finger when applying this concealer, as the warmth from my finger tips help to blend out the concealer nicely and giving a more natural finish.

You can see how pigmented and creamy these concealers are. If you're looking for budget friendly concealers that will do the job of concealing pesky under eye circles, I'd definitely recommend these concealers!

I hope you guys enjoyed reading this blog post and don't forget to check out Just My Look website for L.A Girl products - along with many other makeup and beauty brands that they stock.

Transforming Myself Into FouseyTUBE

Hello everyone!
Long time no post eh?

During February, I decided to challenge myself and film a ton of makeup transformation videos (which are still in the process of editing and uploading to my YouTube channel). One of these makeup transformations was FouseyTUBE, or Yousef Erakat.
I have no idea why I chose him but he showed up on my Facebook news feed and I thought: "Hmmm, that would be pretty interesting!"

So here's the final result:

This look involved a load of contour products to change the structure of my face, along with face paint to draw on the mouth/teeth and of course, the facial hair!
This was quite a challenge but so much fun at the same time - and I hope to do more of these kind of videos.

Do check out the video and please like/subscribe to my channel for more videos like these!

The Chocolate Collection - Effiena's Handmade Polish

Finding organic, vegan friendly and handmade products can be quite hard in a market that is saturated with a huge range of skincare, makeup and beauty products. After changing up my skincare to a more natural and vegan friendly one, I am constantly on the hunt for more organic alternatives to other beauty items that I use.

After being contacted by Effiena from Effiena's Handmade Polish - and having the opportunity to try out her 'Chocolate Collection' of nail polishes, I'm happy to know I have a vegan-friendly brand that I can turn to when I'm in need of new and beautiful colours!

After finishing college and having an entire summer to discover something new, Effiena decided to try something new: making her own nail polishes. She was no stranger to the nail industry as she had previously done nail art and decided she wanted to do something a bit different. Soon after mixing up several batches of nail polish for herself, her family began to show interest and bought several polishes from her. The next step, of course, was turning this idea into a small business: Effiena's Homemade Polish.

Urban Decay X Gwen Stefani Lipsticks SWATCHES

Hello everyone!

Last month I bought the amazing new Urban Decay X Gwen Stefani eyeshadow palette - and I am so happy that I did because that palette is absolutely amazing! I've written a previous blog post on the palette, and when you see the eyeshadows you'll understand why I love it!
With the palette, there was a large sheet with samples of the soon to be released lipsticks from the same range. I'm so happy they included the samples because I feel like this entire collection is up my street!

My Soap & Glory Lipstick Collection

Hello everyone!

I'm back with a short and sweet review on one of my favourite lipstick brands, Soap & Glory.
I was first exposed to these amazing lipsticks back in 2011, where I'd decided to spend my shiny student loan pennies (I was ruthless during my first year of University) and buy a large helping of Soap & Glory products! Is it the packaging? The smells? The feel of the products... I don't know what it was, but I was absolutely obsessed!
Still to this day, I love Soap & Glory's fragrances and mists, their 'Make Yourself Youthful' serum and most importantly, their makeup.

Lipsticks are products that I can never be tired of. You wear them everyday; whether it's at work, during a party - or even if you just want your lips to be moisturised (don't laugh at me, my mum even does this too!)

NYE MAKEUP: Urban Decay X Gwen Stefani

Hello everyone!
I wanted to quickly share with you all my New Years Eve makeup, as I posted a Get Ready With Me video on YouTube and a lot of people really liked the colour combination. I honestly didn't plan the eyes and lips to match my top, but it all worked out that way.

I used my fabulous new Christmas purchase - the Urban Decay X Gwen Stefani Eyeshadow palette. Previously, I've opted for dupes of the Naked palettes, but there wasn't a palette where I thought: "WOW, I want that!" until I saw this one; the colours in it are so versatile, pigmented and are perfect for those who don't really want to dabble with bright bold colours!

Estee Lauder Christmas Gift Set

On the morning of Christmas Day, Ryan presented me with a large wrapped box in a pretty gift bag - and I had abolsutely no idea what was inside. Well duh, it's a present and I shouldn't know. But I literally had no sort of clue or idea what it was, so I was really surprised and excited to find a luxury Estee Lauder gift set.

New Year, New Start

Wow, as if it's 2016 already?!

I originally didn't want to make a 'New Year' type post as it's already 8th January and it seems a little pointless. But considering the fact that I've not written a blog post since mid-2015 (oops!), I think it's ideal I write something before my next set of posts!

I have a few things to update you all on:
1) During July 2015, I started my first post-graduate job as a Digital Marketing Assistant for a door manufacturer in Leeds.
2) I decided to leave that same job to focus on my blog, YouTube, social media and freelance jobs.
This has to be the biggest decision I've made in quite a while and a huge risk too! But being in a full time 9-5 job, had to be the biggest eye opener for me as I'd always imagined it to be something a bit more.
Coming from a creative background of blogging, creating my own content and constantly setting myself goals - it's something that I really missed! And it was something that I felt myself still trying to push out while I was working those 40 hours a week. I still managed to pump out YouTube videos but not so much blog content - and I REALLY apologise! But I'm willing to change that!

So from now on, I'm dedicating my time to creating fantastic blog posts and informative YouTube videos for all you readers and viewers! This will still be a beauty and lifestyle blog - and well, everything else that I feel like I want to blog about too, alongside posting my videos here too with the details!

Now that I've got all of that out of the way, here's a small recap of the last few months! I've also bought a new camera (well my second camera of 2015) and it's blooming amazing. I'll be posting a review on it soon! So here are some photos from the past few months :)
