Lock It vs. Glamoflauge Concealer REVIEW

Hello everyone :)

I am back with a comparison review for two of my favourite concealers : Kat Von D Lock It concealer & Hard Candy Glamoflauge concealer.

These two concealers can only be purchased in America (or a Sephora for the Kat Von D product) - I managed to get mine on eBay, and the Kat Von D concealer was a gift to me from my sister when she went to Vegas! Lucky me :)

So as they're both tattoo concealers, I thought it'd be cool to do a comparison review on these products. I've been getting a few requests to do a review on them, and I thought that I'd give you a demo on how the concealers look, and also a review!

Here are the swatches and review:

The two concealers, and also the concealer pencil that comes with the Glamoflauge product :)
The shades I bought:
Kat Von D Lock It - Medium Tan 26
Hard Candy Glamoflauge - Tan

The main difference with these concealers is the brand and price. Kat Von D's makeup range is more of a luxury brand and a lot of her products are highly priced, so if you're looking to spend a little bit more on makeup, then I'd recommend her products.
However, if you're working with a tight budget and you want a reliable concealer that will hide your imperfections - great for when you're dealing with a hangover! - then I'd recommend the Glamoflauge concealer. Plus, it's available on eBay - just make sure you look for the top rated seller!

As you can see, the Kat Von D concealer is much closer to my skin tone, and doesn't look really 'yellow/orange' like the Glamoflauge. Just letting you know though, I am incredibly pale, and an NC30 shade is quite yellow on me.
The concealer pencil looks like a close match to the Kat Von D concealer - just to show how similar these shades are!

I'd recommend these shades if you are: Between NC30-NC40 (I'm not sure how shades work past the 40) but I can assure you that the Glamoflauge concealer fits a wide spectrum of skin tones!

Break down of the concealers:
Lock It:
+ It's a really thin consistency - so great for those with oily skin types.
+ It's very blend able.
+ Creates a dewy, skin-like finish - it doesn't make your skin look cakey, and looks quite natural with one layer
+ Doesn't break me out!
+ Doesn't feel too thick or heavy on the skin

- Not available to those outside of the US
- Quite expensive
- A little doesn't go a long way.

+ Delivers amazing coverage
+ A little goes a long way!
+ Available on eBay - great for those who don't have contacts in America or people visiting America
+ Very affordable
+ Shades fit a wide variety of skin tones
+Pencil blends in very well (with a freshly moisturised face)

- Can feel heavy on the skin, depending on how thick you apply it
- Can create a cakey appearance
- Sometimes breaks me out
- Not the best concealer to wear in the summer, as it's thick and melts off! :(

Life Update, Vlogmas, YouTube & New Hair

Hey everyone :)

So after a bunch of days, I am finally back with a blog post AND a video! It'd been like 10 days since I'd last posted a video and I felt so bad - I was thinking, "Man, I really need to get off my ass and make a video because I've been saying I will blog and record more". I don't want to let you guys down haha!

I thought I'd record a sort of update video - and I spent the rest of the day recording a bunch of other videos too which I shall post tomorrow and the day after and the day after that etc. I want to get into the routine of spending a day recording and editing, and then schedule them on YouTube so I don't have to worry about uploading them on a certain time of day! Obviously, I'll see how much of it I can tackle - I know it'll be hectic but I think I can manage! :)

Here is the video:

So in the video I discuss a couple of things:
1) Vlogmas:
I'm thinking of doing the 'Vlogmas' thing that a lot of YouTubers do, basically blogs every day in December, leading up to Christmas! It seems like a lot of videos, but I think it's a challenge and I'm willing to take on this challenge :D Plus, it'll be a great way of getting into the routine of recording a video everyday - basically the type of 'working' mind frame I want to have!

2) My curly hair:
I decided to experiment with my hair and curl it all, and I mean all of it. It's not just regular curls that you can create with hair straighteners, but spiral curls that you get if you were to have a perm! I've been wanting to have these type of curls for a while, and I searched around on YouTube how to create these curls. I came across one video by this girl with AMAZING hair, and she used straws as the 'curlers' - Oh, did I forget to mention, no heat was involved? The curls looked so so so so amazing and I knew this is what I wanted to do. But it's not like I casually have a pack of straws with me, so I used rolled up tin foil. And it did the trick!

(With more makeup and green lenses)

I've been receiving a TON of compliments from friends and family - and random people on Instagram - saying curly hair like this suits me really well. I'm not sure if they're saying it suits me more than having straight hair… Geez, thanks guys! Hahaha..
But to be honest, I'm loving the curly hair!

I'm going to experiment more with my hair - planning on dying it soon too - so if I feel like I can manage having curly hair, then I might get it done permanently. Well.. we'll see! :)

Thanks for reading and watching guys!
I hope you're having a great week, and have a great 'rest of the week' - unless I post tomorrow or something haha.

My New Piercings - Lucy Cannibal Piercing

Hey everyone :)

If you've been following me on Instagram or Facebook, you will know that I have two new piercings. Yayyyyyy!
I'd been wanting a new piercing for a while and I'd been thinking of getting the Scaffold piercing (basically the one that's a bar running from one side of the ear to the other - I'm sure you've seen it before). And well, I was told that it's a bit of a pain with having long hair and that it takes really long to heal, and plus it really hurts. I then changed my mind and thought I'd get a 'Helix' piercing.
Helix piercings are much more common - most people get the top outer corner of their ear pierced - but I wanted it lower down so it was more on the lobe rather than cartilage. Just because I knew it would be easier to heal and it'd look cool.

Keep in mind, this was a last minute decision and I really wanted a piercing. Really really really wanted one.

I came across Lucy Cannibal Piercing several months ago when I was first considering  piercing - but I guess work from Second year really kept me busy. However I'd liked the page because I knew I was going to come around to the piercing idea again and hey! It looks like I did!

This was the first time I ever went alone to get something like this done - I've not even been alone to the doctors - so I was a bit nervous but my nerves calmed down when I was sat down on the chair, waiting for Lucy to sort out the needles. Yes, it hurt like a biatch, although it wasn't as painful as I'd expected! It was an instant sharp pain and then it calmed down and it's been fine ever since :)

I highly recommend going to Lucy for a piercing as she's had several years of experience and she's really friendly and professional about her work!

(I got the helix pierced on both ears!)

After a couple days of having my ears pierced, they don't hurt as much as I thought they would. I remember when I had my tragus pierced, it hurt for weeks and I couldn't sleep on that ear for a while. However my ears don't feel painful, only when I really apply pressure on it (it only happens whilst I'm sleeping haha!) But otherwise they're not too painful to touch.

If you're wanting a new piercing and you're in the Huddersfield area, then do check out Lucy Cannibal Piercing :)

(P.S: Yay, my new business cards have arrived! :D )

Glamorous Gold & Brown Smokey Eye Tutorial

Hey everyone :)

So I filmed this tutorial a few days ago - for some reason I was really in the mood to do a smokey eye that was quite dramatic but not too over the top. And I wanted a reason to wear lashes too :P
If you're wanting to recreate this look, just know that you mainly need: A champagne highlight colour, a bronze eye shadow (I used a bronzer for this), and a dark brown shadow. Yes. I used dark brown, that isn't black!
You can adjust the intensity of he dark brown eye shadow - and you can even add in black if you want something much more dramatic!

I'm sorry about the beginning of the video where it's a little blurry and also my head is a bit too down! I promise my videos will get better :)
The main idea of this video is the eye shadow look and application, and the other stuff I did afterwards with the concealer, bronzer and lipstick was just to complete the look!

I hope you guys like this look :)

Don't forget to like and subscribe to me ; and also if you have any request for videos, then leave a comment on the video!

L'Oreal Paris - Nude Magique Eau De Teint Foundation REVIEW

"I'm so excited! I bought this new foundation and I can't wait to see how it looks". My iMessage beeped, it was my sister talking to me about her latest, and by latest I mean 'latest at that moment in time', makeup buys. I could tell she was super excited - I mean who wouldn't be excited over makeup?! Well I'm guessing most guys. Anywho, the foundation she bought was the L'Oreal Nude Magique Eau De Teint foundation. At the moment she's more in the loop about the latest makeup products, because before this day, I hadn't heard of this product. Well I knew about the Nude Magique line - cut me at least some slack!

"Oh.. it's a bit too light for me... I'll let you try it out, you might like it" - and I guess that's where I am now. Moving on to the review:

I decided to film the foundation application and my first thoughts (or impressions) about this product - as this was the first time I'd applied it fully onto an area that wasn't just the back of my hand. However, if you would like to see swatches then keep reading..

The shade I bought is 110 Warm Ivory. Yes, this shade is quite light but after I'd applied my powder and bronzer, I made it work for me :) I still have a minor tan from summer, but I know that when the tan fades, this foundation will suit me much better.

The foundation is encased in a small glass bottle, and for a strange reason, it's only 20ml - generally foundations are 30ml / 1floz. Nonetheless, I love the packaging; it's small and petite and it looks really delicate too.

What the foundation claims:
A feather light foundation, feels as light and fresh as water. Instantly fuses with the skin blending seamlessly to leave a silky, second skin effect.
Perfect bare skin look.
Naturall even, shine free look.
Undetectable coverage.
Silky soft touch.
No make-up feel.
Non-pore clogging.

With artificial lighting

 With flash

My impression of this foundation:
When I first tried this on the back of my hand, the consistency of the foundation surprised me as it's very silky and velvety. It definitely is like water, and it feels really gentle on the skin. Most foundations tend to give a heavy feel - depending on the amount of layers you apply - and some leave your skin feeling like it can't breathe. If you're lucky, these foundations won't transfer onto white clothing - which is so embarrassing
However, this foundation left my skin feeling like it could breathe - the formula of this foundation is very lightweight and it's much more comforting feeling of having non-pore-clogging(skin-covered-so-much-it-can't-breathe) makeup on my skin.
Despite the fact that this foundation is very watery, I initially had the impression that this wouldn't cover up my acne scarring. It does, to an extent. Most of my scarring did get covered up, even the redness on my cheeks, however some scars still remain detectable and I have to apply a bit more concealer on top of the foundation. Also, my under eyes - like always - didn't get covered up well, and I had to go over them with my tattoo concealer :)
Oh and one last thing: If you have dry skin, then this foundation probably won't be for you. I've found that it does settle into cracks, and accentuates drier skin.

I hope you guys liked this review, and I do recommend trying out this foundation as it's very light on the skin and doesn't clog your pores - which is really comforting to know :)
Thank you for reading! :)

UPDATED: University Room Tour

So I decided to re-do my University Room Tour - however this time I did it in the form of a YouTube video. Why? Because I thought it'd be different than just showing you all a bunch of photos and there not being much reasoning behind why I've stuck certain things on my wall and why I have certain books. It's a bit more entertaining :)

Since my last Room Tour post, I have a couple more additions to my room including more clothes, shoes, books and I've also given my beauty section a good sorting out. I had a ton of lipsticks that needed to be arranged and now it looks a lot more tidy!

Check out the video here:

I hope you guys like the video and if you have any video requests, then please write them in the comment section of the YouTube video :)

Thanks for watching & reading

The thing that happened yesterday morning

Hello all! I have a bit of a silly story to tell you guys, and I gotta say, I'm not good in the mornings. I lose track of just about everything - who I am, what time it is, what I'm going to wear etc. And some may find this normal and be like, "Well yeah, I get wrecked on a Friday and on Saturday morning, I don't know where I am"

No. No. NO.

I go to sleep at an odd hour, fall into a deep sleep and my brain just literally cannot function within the first 30 minutes of waking up - regardless of what I've been doing the night before.
Anyway, on to my story...

So yesterday morning started off like no other, I woke up to my alarm - a song that I absolutely despise now because all I can think about is leaving my warm bed whenever I hear it. I hate when songs make you feel such horrible feelings! Those damn songs. Usually on a Friday, I have more of a lie in so I was just chillaxing in bed until around 11pm, no biggie. My lecture and seminar wasn't until later on that day, so I got ready and I filmed a video :) Yayyy.

And I left my flat to head of to my first lecture. I set off around 1ish and I knew it'd take me around 10 minutes to get to the lecture room, and I got there on time, to realise that it wasn't my class.
I was stood there literally like, "Who are these people? This lecturer looks nothing like mine...". So after a minute or so of thinking, I clicked on, my class wasn't until an hour later.
"There you go ladies and gentlemen, Ravinder Osahn. The biggest douche in the history all things university related."

But luckily I only lived a good 5 minute walk back down to my flat (the stairs kill me on the way up, so I take longer haha!) and I got back to my flat and made a brew.

Moving on to the second most important thing in this post, my video. Check it out :)

Yes, I am back to making videos and blogging a lot more frequently, I will kick this procrastination habit!

Hope you all have a great weekend! I am back in Leeds for this weekend and hopefully I will have a blog post about it :)

October FoodPorn

You may already know that I am a complete foodie. I love taking photos of my food before I eat it - yes, I am one of those douchebags you see whipping out their cameras as soon as a plate of food hits the table. But I just really love food

Since starting my final year and actually living an independent life where I'm washing my own clothes, cleaning, doing all of the food shopping (basically all of the adult life stuff) - I do have to cook for myself. I cannot live off soups and noodles like I thought - damn! Nonetheless, it's not like I don't enjoy cooking, because I do. It's fun experimenting and making unhealthy food that involves a lot of cheese and bacon :)

FYI: The dishes I'ma show you aren't all cooked by myself, most of them are cooked by Ryan - where I provided the plate and probably put in like 2% of the overall effort. And some of them are just takeout... But food is still food, and I love looking at food!

Take out: Onion Rings X Chicken and Chips X Chocolate Gateaux

Salmon wrapped in Parma Ham X Pasta X Salad

Take Out: Chinese Chicken Curry X Chips

Roasted Chicken X Parnsips X Rice X Kidney Beans

Take Out - Camden Town: Chilli Con Carne Taco X Rice X Lotsa lotsaaaa cheese!

My Fall/Winter Makeup

Winter is always my favourite time of year when it comes to wearing makeup - simply because in the summer, you're hot, you sweat.. and all of that other yucky stuff. And I personally dislike walking around with my face looking like a massive shiny ball - yes, a ball. "Hey you, you got a ball-like head!" I joke, I joke.
Nonetheless, winter is a great time to wear makeup but you do have to worry about things like dry skin, and making sure your lips aren't chapped. As long as you find a great moisturiser and chapstick, then that's fine!

Moving onto my 'Fall/Winter Makeup' - yeah I'm gonna say Fall. Fall sounds a lot better than Autumn, why not!?
It's all about matte taupe and brown eyeshadows, luscious lashes and a berry lip colour.

Check out my Winter Makeup:

Products Used:
NARS Sheer Glow Foundation - Punjab
Kat Von D Tattoo Concealer - Medium 26
The Body Shop - All In One Base
HB Brows - Bombshell
ELF Blusher & Bronzer duo
Smooch Mascara
CK Lipstick - Rose Rush

I hope you guys like this makeup look :)

Side note:
I will be attempting to make at least 2 videos a week - if not more - simply because I feel like it's a way of keeping up with the internet and blogging. University is getting a little tough and in my spare time - well the time I take to watch a movie or something - I could be doing a video or write up a few blogs (something more productive with my time).
So do keep your eyes peeled on my blog and YouTube channel :)

Thanks for reading and watching guys!

Promise Phan Inspired 'Trippy Face'

I decided to try out the 'Face-Ception' "face in a face" makeup tutorial she did as one of her Halloween videos, and well... it turned out like this:

And I suppose it's not bad.
I have to admit though, she makes it look a HELL of a lot more easier than it really is haha!

Check out the time lapse I did of it :)

I hope you guys have had an awesome Halloween :)
I can't believe it's November already! Soon all of the shops will be playing Christmas jingles and man... wait... Christmas shopping. I'm not sure how to feel about that.

But the Christmas German Market will be in action soon and I really cannot wait to go to that :) I loved it last year, and hopefully this year will be just as great!
