Sister Tag Video

Hey everyone :)

I'm SO sorry for the lack of blog posts, I've been busy with all of my University assignments and it's all piling up - I'm having a bit of difficulty finding time to sit down and blog!

But, here is a tag video I did with my sister - SimplyBeautifulYou. As you know, she's my sister! And we did the Sister Tag video. So watch!

It was so much fun to film this, and I hope you enjoy watching it :)

Making sure the video was recording :)

Oooh and check out her box lighting! It's so nice! I took a lot of photos with it earlier today that I'll post later during the week... it gives a really nice airbrushed effect.

INSPIRATION: Lilly Ghalichi

Hey everyone :)

I have to share this with you guys:
I came across this model/entrepeneur Lilly Ghalichi. - I actually found a makeup tutorial somehow on YouTube that replicated Lilly Ghalichi's makeup. And then I googled who she was because the makeup looked stunning.
And she's a model, business entrepreneur with her own swimsuit collection, she's been on a reality show called The Shahs of Sunset and she's Persian!
Like almost every Persian girl I've known of, has been absolutely beautiful!

Just look!

Her hair is soo amazing and her makeup too!
It's somewhat similar to Kim K, but I think Lilly Ghalichi is different and has a different look compared to Kim K. I can only compare them on the similar makeup and hair.

I reall really really want her hair though! It's soooo pretty!

25 Facts About ME

Hey everyone :)

I've been seeing this tag go around on most blogs and I find it soo interesting to read about other bloggers. Especially when most of what they post are reviews or fashion posts. It makes it much more personal :)

Let's get started then!

1) My heart is on my right-hand side
This is probably the first thing I'd like to tell you guys, because it's one thing that actually makes me unique. Yep, I was born with my heart on the right hand side, and all my organs are in the mirror reverse positions of everyone else.
Apparently this affects like 1 in 32,000 people, but I've not met anyone else with it so far! :)

2) Growing up, I wasn't a mainstream music fan..
I was never a Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera or Beyonce fan, as I never paid attention to mainstream music. I grew up listening to Korn, Nirvana, Linkin Park, The Offspring, Limp Bizkit.. and when I say 'growing up', I mean I was around 4 or 5 at this stage. My two older brothers were responsible for my music taste haha, as whatever they listened to, I did.
So during high school, the bands I was obsessed with were: Green Day, Blink 182, From First To Last, Sum 41, Alkaline Trio, Papa Roach... and many more.
Even to this day, I still have my own kind of music taste and I generally listen to music I think sounds good regardless if it is popular or not.
I like artists like Pony Pony Run Run, Jaymay, Circ and Attack Attack!

3) I believe star signs
First of all, I want to make this clear that I don't believe in horoscopes, that being said, I do believe the starsigns are able to tell you the characteristics of a person. Including their compatibility level with another person.

4) Dinosaurs are awesome
When I was around like 7 years old, I was obsessed with Dinosaurs. As embarrassing as that may be, Dinosaurs are awesome and I wish they were still around to this day. It'd just be pretty cool... well.. as long as they didn't eat me or anything.

5) I'm obsessed with drawing eyes
I have no idea why, but they're the most expressive thing to draw and I have so many drawn along the sides of my university notes, and in my diary etc.
Apparently people who always draw eyes are very reflective people, and something about them being very visual towards other people.

Human eyes and cat eyes :)

6) I have many Hello Kitty things!
I started collecting Hello Kitty items when I was around 14/15ish and it started off with jewellery, and then it moved on to different things..

Hello Kitty box that my mug came in, Hello Kitty lunchbox sadly I've not been able to use it much as I've put a few items in there that I had to pack away when I was tidying up my house! I shall use it again soon :)
Hello Kitty necklace! A Hello Kitty travel case with brushes inside, a Hello Kitty watch my sister bought me from Camden.
I have other items too, including a bracelet, t-shirt, eye shadow palettte :)

The t-shirt! :)

7) I used to be kinda fat, but now I stay the same size
No matter how much I eat, I generally stay the same weight! Which is really weird because when I was 13/14, I used to be a size 12 (UK size), and that was the biggest I've been. But a year later I ended up adapting to a more fast-paced lifestyle where I've had to walk or be on my feet more. I worked out loads on the treadmill too!
Now, I sometimes eat so much food and I'll gain a few pounds, but the next week I'll be my normal weight (9 stones).

8) But I do want to lose more weight and tone up
I'm definitely going to be going to the gym loads for the rest of the year and into my third year too!
I want to be totally toned and have really nice abs... I can do it :D

9) Journalism wasn't my first choice
I was meant to study Fine Art at university, hence my old YouTube videos and my drawings on Facebook. However I never got accepted anywhere, and I had to take a gap year and re-apply, but in another area. Journalism. I suppose that Journalism can take me places where I'd like to go, but I can't see myself writing for a newspaper. I'd love to travel to new destinations
So, Journalism is just a part of my plan... I have a master plan of something I want to do ;D

10) I've dyed my hair more times than I can count
Red, Pinkish, purple, blondey, light brown, dark brown, ultra violet!
I've been dying my hair over the past 7 or 8 years, and I've done it all myself too, I've never been afraid if things go wrong or anything :)

11) There are 3 movies I can NEVER get tired of
And they are: She's The Man, A Cinderella Story and Transformers.
She's The Man is so hilarious and I first watched it with my sister, and I've watched it enough times to recite all of the lines.
A Cinderella Story is so funny! Hilary Duff was one of my fave actresses growing up, and I think I liked this movie more because she is in it! And not to mention, Jennifer Coolidge is in there and she's so hilarious too!
Then Transformers... no wait. It needs it's on paragraph.
I love the quote "Never let the fear of striking out, keep you from playing the game"

12) Transfomers. Can I have one?
I love this movie. It was created so well, and the whole storyline is amazing! I've seen all three, and well, the first and second have to be my favourites as they're more memorable. And well... Megan Fox is in them and I prefer her then Rosie Huntington Whiteley. Like, Megan Fox just really kicks ass.

13) I am a clothes and makeup hoarder
Well, it's not as bad as you see on TV. But I just seriously have so much makeup and clothes that I sometimes forget I even had them in the first place! It's unbelievable!
However, I only have like 4 pairs of shoes... and this really needs to change!

14) I can get ready in 10 minutes
I wake up around 6:35am (if I'm feeling really lazy to not wake up earlier) and I take 10 minutes to wash up, brush my teeth, put on clothes and brush through my hair. The other 15 minutes I pack up my bags, and make a quick cup of coffee and then be out of the house for 7!
I end up doing my makeup on the train or later on in the day :)

This is how I look when I don't really do my makeup - only a bit of foundation, mascara, fill in my brows and lipbalm :)
When I have more time, I end up applying the concealer, bronzer, eyeliner and etc! Haha!

15) I am a quiet one
It's a pain really, as I'm not as talkative as I'd like to be. Although I do really want to change that and become a lot more confident and blab on and on.

16) Snakebites
For a couple of years I wanted snake bites so badly. Two lip piercings on both sides of the bottom lip. I still think it looks cool, but I don't really think it's my thing anymore.

17) I don't like wearing glasses
Most people at University haven't seen me with glasses, as I personally didn't want them to see me wearing them haha. It's a shame though, because my glasses are quite expensive and I should wear them out more often. I'm more comfortable wearing lenses :)

18) I'm a bit of a crazy nail person
I'll explain! I love the fact that I can grow my nails really long, and sometimes I grow them a bit too long and people around me are like, "Woah!! How do you even manage to type?!" and well, it's really easy to type with long nails haha.

Okay, actually, looking at the photo it does look a bit creep haha! I think that is the longest my nails have ever been, and it took me several months to grow my nails out that long.
But I don't think I'll keep them that long again!!

19) I tend to wear the same clothes
If you see me regularly in person, you will know that I tend to wear the same jumpers over and over. No! Not day after day. But I wear the pieces of clothes compared to other items of clothing I've got in my wardrobe. I really love comfortable clothing and I only have a few that are like that.

20) I'm a bit of a gamer
I'm not saying that I'm an avid gamer when it comes to like Call of Duty.. I've played it once or twice and it's not bad. However, I definitely CAN'T say no to playing Unreal Tournament.
Basically it's similar to Call of Duty, and you have to shoot people. Except it's a bit more gory-er and sadistic (I think). In the game, you can choose what type of match you want to play, like a Team Tag, Last Man Standing, Capture the Flag, Assault... all of which are cool. And you get all these guns and you just basically have to shoot the other players... Oh, this is starting to sound a little creepy, but it's a really good game!

21) I have three piercings
I've had my ears pierced on both sides ever since I was a baby, and then I got my tragus done when I was around 14/15 :) it was a spur of the moment thing and I asked my mum and she agreed!

22) I want to travel the world
I mentioned this earlier but I really would love to travel the world
Exotic places, hot places, different places, cultural places etc!
I want to visit America soon... Canada and New York!

23) I take way too many photos of myself
It's not that I'm really vain.. or is it?
Nooo nooo! Haha! Since becoming more of a beauty blogger where I take more photos of my makeup and everyday looks, and things that I do on a day to day basis, I have a lot of photos of myself! I have around 40GB worth of photos that I've taken on my DSLR (and I got my DSLR in November!) haha!

24) Chocolate is my weakness
I'm such a chooclate addict, it's untrue! I've been eating less chocolate than I used to though, and I try to incorporate fruit and nuts into the chocolate now as it's better than none at all haha.

25) My favourite colour is red
It's been my favourite colour for absolutely ages! I do like the colour pink, but I do prefer red! A deep red :)

I hope you've enjoyed reading my facts, and try it out too!! If you do try it out, link me to your post in the comment section below and I'll have a read!

My FIRST ever Interview!

Hey everyone :)

I'm a bit late to posting this as I've been quite busy with assignments! I wanted to share with you my first ever interview that I've done, which was for a website that offered advice on dealing with acne.

It was an email interview and it was quick and simple, however being approached to do this interview is incredible and I appreciate those who read my interview.

MURAD Acne Update & VIDEO Part 2

Hey everyone :)

It's been a month since my last update on the MURAD skincare routine, and I wanted to share my progress with you guys. If you haven't read my last update on this routine, then click here.

So as you all know, I have been using these three products:

Acne Spot Treatment
Exfoliating Acne Treatment Gel
Clarifying Cleanser

Watch my video about my skincare routine, as this is my updated routine since using MURAD. I've found that doing less with my skin (I don't do facials or exfoliate as much as I used to a few years ago) and my skin has improved lots! Just look below for my updated photos :)

In my last post I had mentioned that I had a few problems with the Acne Spot Treatment, as I felt that it made my skin greasy rather than combating my pesky pimples. I've not touched it since, so I have no more to say about it. Nonetheless, the Clarifying Cleanser and Exfoliating Acne Treatment Gel have worked wonders! And now I have almost reached the bottom of the tube of my Clarifying Cleanser.

I'll definitely repurchase the two items again!

I've found that using this combination has prevented my skin from breaking out, and it's slowly fading my acne scarring. It hasn't reduced the scarring dramatically, unfortunately, but it's calmed the redness and I haven't had a breakout since (touch wood!)

This is how my skin looked before using the entire treatment (during November):

Then January..

Despite the scarring still looking visible, you can tell that my skin definitely doesn't look as red or marked as before! I'm soooo happy about this, as it means I don't have to use as much makeup to cover it now haha!

I definitely do recommend using MURAD as it's been one of the main brands I've used to help with my Acne. It really is a confidence booster as I don't feel so stressed out that my skin looks bad.
I'm just waiting for my scarring to go now, and hopefully I'll be able to maintain my clear skin!

If you have any questions about my skincare routine, or questions in general, then email me or leave a comment below!

A monthly favourite featuring REVLON

Hey everyone :)

I've never done a Monthly Favourites before, so I'm a little unsure of how I should do this... I know some people blog about this during the month. However I'm thinking of blogging about my monthly favourite after the month has passed :P

So here is my January Favourite!

Just Bitten Kissable
Balm Stain in 005 Crush

I love this balm, as it's really soft, buttery and applies really well onto the lips. I found that I don't really need to use a lipbalm before applying this balm stain, as it's really moisturising and makes the lips look dewy and fresh.

The lasting power of this balm stain is amazing, as I can wear it for around 5 hours straight, eat and drink and the colour is still on my lips :)

I sometimes apply a little bit of this balm stain onto my cheeks, to give a blushing appearance :) it's easy to blend out, and doesn't look greasy or oily.

With flash
With indoor lighting

I really like the colour as it's can look soft, but when you apply it liberally, it's a much more bold colour. This colour really suits my skin ton - and it's a lovely warm colour and will suit most skin tones! I chose this colour because I felt the others didn't look as natural as this shade, and the rest were either too vibrant or pinkish.
I usually stick to deeper plum shades :)

What do you think?
Have you tried any of the balm tints by REVLON?

FOTD: Smokey Cut Crease

Hey everyone :)

The other night I had just got home from University, made some coffee and headed straight to my room to watch My Mad Fat Diary. I didn't really want to watch that show when I had first saw the advert for it, but I have to admit that it is pretty entertaining :)

So whilst I was watching that, I decided to experiment with some makeup.. And I did a cut-crease look:

I used a champagne eye shadow along the brow bone, a gold colour as my base on the eye lids, and then a dark brown along the crease.

I had then finished the look off with winged eyeliner and mascara :)

I wasn't actually wearing any makeup other than around my eyes - hence why you can see my acne scarring :P

What do you guys think?

The grass is always greener..

Hey everyone :)

I've been thinking a lot lately, about how I'd like things to be. And regardless of everything that I have that I'm grateful for having, I can't help wondering what things would be like if it was the opposite.

As you guys know, I commute. And commuting to and from University isn't easy, especially when the weather is really bad.
So obviously, I keep thinking how things would be different if I was moving out.
It would be easier for me to get to University, I'd have more time to do things rather than spend over an hour a day in a vehicle. I'd also gain a lot of independence being on my own.
However, when I first started University, I always liked the fact that I commuted, because I was waking up early and I was able to see the sunrise and sunset, and got to know most locations of Huddersfield.
Also, commuting meant that I didn't have to cook haha! Well.. I do, but most of the food is cooked and already there for me to eat, so I don't have to pay for anything.

Then there's the other thing that we can all relate to: Shit weather.
I remember sitting on the beach in Egypt last year in May, and thinking "Oh man, it's too hot. I don't like this heat!" And it was really hot, like it was around 40 degrees Celsius so it was pretty damn hot. And I clearly wasn't used to that really hot weather because in Leeds, we mainly have cloudy and rainy days.
So I was longing for cooler weather, or just a cool breeze whilst I laid there in the sun.
But then I also think, the weather right now in England is shit itself, because right now, we're going through some sort of 'big freeze'.
So I just can't help to think about wanting to be on a warm beach somewhere in the Mediterranean or something.

There's one other thing that I think some will be able to relate to.
You know when you have like a million deadlines and you're put under pressure of doing a load of work, and all you can think about is it being completed so you can go out or watch that new tv series.
Yep, I hate that feeling.
Because all you want to do during that time is not work, but do everything else under the sun.
But then, when you complete all of your work and you have several weeks/months to do nothing, all you think is, "I'M SO BORED!" and I end up thinking, "I can't think of anything to do.. I just want to do some work already".

So in these scenarios, the grass is always greener on the other side.
And well, I'm actually going to make the most out of the current situation regardless if it's good or bad.

Oh! Before I forget, I've uploaded a new video on my skincare, however I'm going to make a whole new post soon about my skincare and my MURAD skincare update!
It will be up soon :)

SUPERBOWL: American Pancakes

Hey everyone :)

So it was the Superbowl last night, and well.. because I'm commuting (grrr I hate it so much!!!!) I had to wake up at half 6 this morning to get to University. Which meant I couldn't really stay up at night to watch it.
But I've heard it was really good, especially Beyonce's performance!

And I've seen people write things like, "Erm, I heard there was a football game at Beyonce's concert" hahahah :P

However I was watching cooking shows yesterday that were talking about the food that people make like chicken wings and whatever. And another of them were American pancakes.

And because I was watching the cooking show at like 12pm when I'd literally just had my breakfast, I was sooo tempted to try to make these American style pancakes. Usually when I make them, they're really flat and spread easily. However I wanted to try make them so that they're really thick, have the height, and taste lovelyyy!

How do they look?!

They look pretty yummy for my first attempt at making these! :D

I used this recipe from the BBC website:
135g/4¾oz plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
2 tbsp caster sugar
130ml/4½fl oz milk
1 large egg, lightly beaten
2 tbsp melted butter (allowed to cool slightly) or olive oil, plus extra for cooking

And you have to basically sift all of the dry ingredients in one big mixing bowl, and the wet ingredients in like a jug (so that you can whisk it all), and then you pour the wet ingredients into the dry flour mix. THEN MIX!

When you start to mix it, you will feel that it is very very thick!

So once the mixture is thick, you can go straight to the pan and make the pancakes :D
You will need a non-stick pan, and spoon in a knob of butter onto the pan - or you can use olive oil for this! I used butter. And then you pour in a quantity of the pancake batter onto the hot pan and then flip it over when one side is ready :)

You will want them to be like how the top one looks - a little brownish in the centre

When they're cooked like this on both sides, thy're ready to be eaten! :D

I ate mine with a topping of freshly squeezed lemon juice and a drizzle of honey!

Yummyyy :)
