Let's All Be Happy :)

Time after time, everyone seems to get upset and have their 'off' days which result in feeling negative. It's allowed, to an extent. We have these moments as a way of getting rid of irrational feelings and thoughts, to dwell on them for some time, to then eventually start feeling positive.

And it's okay to have this moment. It's okay to feel like a complete shitball. But it's not okay to let this feeling overcome your mental health and well being.
So, I have created a list of things to help you feel happy, and also, to remain feeling happy regardless of whatever circumstance you're in!

1) Smile often. Studies have proven that if you smile when you're feeling sad, you will start to feel happy and forget about your worries. Smile at others, smile at yourself in the mirror (even though you might look like a douchebag) but hey, it helps!

2) Stay In The Present. Now this can be a problem for a lot of people that are unhappy. Maybe you have a lot of regret for something you wish you said to someone, or you wish you did something. And thing is, no matter how much you wish you could go back and change it, you actually can't, you don't have any power to change what has already happened. So you must move on, and use your past experience as a lesson learned to grasp new experiences and seize the moment. Carpe Diem, yo!
Furthermore, staying in the present will help you realise that you have power over what will happen in the future. And that you must live in the 'now' rather than the past or present.

3) Simplify. Or in other words, STOP over thinking!

4) Relaxxx. Have you noticed that when your eyes are open, you're thinking about so many different things. E.g tasks you have to do today (bills, coursework, cleaning your room), or you think about things you should've done or said. Yet, when you close your eyes, you don't have these thoughts. In fact, they all seem to disappear. Go on, try it. Close your eyes and try to think of the things you need to do today... It's not that easy to think of them, right?
Take a few moments out to relax and close your eyes, and forget about little worries.

5) Make others happy. Now this is a no brainer, making people happy, doing good deeds = puts a smile on peoples faces and also puts a smile on your face.

6) Determine things that make you happy. Take time out to do things that make you happy, whether it's reading book, or browsing the internet, or catching up with family / close friends. But try to do things on your own that will bring you happiness. Even if it's that new recipe you've been dying to try out, or taking up a new hobby.
Whatever brings you happiness, go do it!.

7) Go with the flow. This is one of my favourites. I actually dislike planning what to do, I dislike planning what to predict of my outcomes. And I'd rather if I was to just go with whatever life brings me. Even if it's something bad, turn it into something good.
E.g A rainy day can be turned into singing / dancing in the rain.
And I know that it's easier said than done, but it's a better way of looking at things, and a great way to be positive :)

8) Eating healthy. Okay, I know food brings comfort to everyone, well mostly everyone. But you're not going to find complete happiness at the bottom of an icecream tub, and you're not going to find it in McDonalds either. So if you're reaching for food for comfort, opt for something healthy like really sweet fruit. It tastes good, plus it's better for your body too.

9) Breathe. Breathing slowly and deeply will help reduce stress levels, and will help to create that balance in your mind. It's a quick and easy thing to do :)

10) Pamper yourself. Whether it's just a new haircut, or a hot bubble bath, it will make you feel good about yourself. It's just that feel good feeling, and it's a definite way of feeling happy.

Another important tip for being happy that I think would be beneficial for majority of the population, is to limit the negativity you're allowing into your world.
By this, I mean deleting people on Facebook who are constantly posting spiteful or depressing Facebook statuses (and I mean the constant ones) and also unfollowing them on Twitter too. This appliesto the books and blogs you read, and also the tv shows you watch.

It's like being around depressing people in real life, if you want that sort of company, then you won't be happy. The idea here, is to surround yourself with positive people as they are the ones who will influence you greatly!
